Working towards the Sustainable Development Goals
While much progress was made in these areas, the deadline for the MDGs was 2015. These have now transitioned into Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as a blueprint for the next 15 years. This new agenda was adopted at the Sustainable Development Summit on 25th September 2015.

Family planning is connected to 13 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals:
Family planning-generates wealth, good health and reduces hunger (SDGs 1,2&3); prolongs and increases attendance to education (SDG 4,); empowers women and girls (SDGs 5&10); reduces pressure on the environment (SDGs 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15); and promotes global partnerships (SDG 17).
