Grassroot Partners

CHAT, partnering with communities through local leaders, establishes collaborations with "Community-Owned Resource Persons" (CORPs). They offer door-to-door family planning services, addressing wider health and environmental concerns. In the FP/TB initiative, CHAT collaborates with 61 motobike riders in Isiolo and Laikipia counties, transporting specimens from local health facilities to County Referral Hospital laboratories - and facilitating family planning commodity distribution.

Lilian Ibei

Lilian is a mother of 1 from Teldet. The village is mostly dominated by squatters who were sent out of Mt. Elgon forest by the Sabaot land defence force. Lilian is passionate about community work as she identifies the suffering and lack of knowledge and information about Family planning. She is an active church member and enjoys singing with the youth group.

Agnes Kangogo

Agnes Kangogo is from Mchongoi in Baringo County. A community perched on the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley with spectacular views. She also reaches into Laikipia She is a single mother of 1. Agnes volunteers at the local Health Facility and works as a casual worker. She mobilizes locally and also in neighboring communities. When she has spare time, Agnes likes to play football.

Melvin Lomwa

Melvin Lomwa is a mother of 1 from Ngilukia one of the villages in Suguta Valley. She likes supporting her community in anyway possible and thus always going door to door sensitizing them on FP as a way to change their lives. She enjoys swimming in the naturals pools of Suguta when she gets a chance.

Nchelele Banati

Nchelele Banati a second wife, is a mother of 3 from Meshinani. Having been married young she missed out on education which she values a lot that is why she is a girl child education champion. The very skilled bead accessories maker, uses bead working groups to sensitize and provide family planning services through the backpack strategy. During her free time she likes to enhance her bead-working skills.

John Supuk

The respected Nyumba Kumi elder, John Supuk, from Enkong Narok, is married and a father. He is very passionate about family planning. He relentlessly works towards sharing information and supporting the community members to access family planning services. The adventurous spirit likes to discover the nearby Amboseli National Park as well as hiking during his free time.

Merceline Tabu

Merceline is from Shariani in Kilifi county. As a mother, her biggest worry is not being able to provide for her family. She wishes that all women would know about FP and have a manageable family size. Taabu reaches fishermen communities around Junju Location reffering them to Vipingo for services..

Mercy Makena

Mercy is a single mother of 1. She loves reading and traveling to new places. She is a fresh produce vendor. She loves her small business as she is able to interact with different people from her area and with that she shares family planning information within Nkubu and Meru.

Mercy Mwari

The ever so jolly Mercy hails from Meru. She is passionate about community work and is always counseling people especially the youth. She supports CHAT work in areas around Timau and Chumvi. Mercy loves traveling, listening to music and having fun.

Lucy Ngugi,

Lucy, a trained CHV is based in Dagoreti and its surrounding slum in Nairobi. The married mother of 3 hawks tea leaves from door to door as she does sensitization on Family Planning and ecological awareness. Whenever free she likes socializing and attending prayer sessions.

Chondo Akuagoro

Chondo is a single father of 2 children. He helps people living with HIV/AIDS and also provides door to door family planning. He has formed 2 support groups for people living with HIV/AIDS, situated in the slum and suburban areas of Maralal. He also makes and sells soap and biofuel briquettes.

Rose Mulonzya

Rose is a mother of 2. She lives in Nanyuki and works in the slums withing the town. She runs a small vegetable kiosk where she gets to interact with a lot of people taking this chance to share on FP. She loves singing and is a choir member at her local church.

Jacqueline Gichana

Jacqueline is a single mother of 3 from Nyamira in Kisii County. She is a small-scale farmer and likes to travel, read, listen to music as well as cook delicious meals. She is very passionate about empowering women and she strongly believes that with the knowledge and services she shares about family planning, a lot of women will benefit and there is going to be a notable change in their lives.

Emily Otieno

Emily a widow and a mother of 7 is a retired teacher who hails from Kendu-Bay in Homa-Bay County. She is passionate about reaching out to the needy and has devoted her time to ensure that they access timely family planning information and services. In her free time she likes volunteering with the youth and PLWHIV groups.



Joseph Koskei

Joseph Koskei is a married father of 5 children. He is a small-scale farmer from Tinderet, a village in the highlands of Nakuru County. In his areas of work he provides door to door family planning, this includes communities in the Internally Displaced Persons camps which have a large needy population. He likes to read the bible in his free time.

Mary Wangeci

Mary Wangeci is a mother of 2 from Elburgon in Nakuru. She is a small scale farmer and sells her produce in a small kiosk in the evenings. She like supporting women in the best way she knows how, which is sharing information about FP and referring them for services.

Susan Nzyake

Susan from Kamuongo and a mother to 3. She is very enthusiastic about livestock keeping and is teaching community members on how to maximize on their few resources so as to take care of their animals, as well getting to learn from them what has worked for them – and possibly practice it herself.

Lucy Mbuli

Lucy is a mother of 4. She partakes in many roles in her community of Kyuso. She is the leader of a group of 80 Community Health Volunteers, a village elder and the church chair lady. She runs a small tea kiosk where she shares information about family planning. She loves to read and learn new things when she ever has free time.

Juliet Ndung’e

Juliet is a single mother of 4 from Waita. She is highly skilled when it comes to making of sisal ropes and sells vegetables in her small vegetable stand at their community centre. Whenever Juliet is free you will find her attending to domestic animals as she loves taking care of them and learning new things about animals to enhance her knowledge on them.

Jonathan Kinyua

Through his prowess in football Jonathan gained popularity in his local community and those surrounding. He now uses these interactions with the community to talk and educate them on family planning and its relationship to the environment as well as debunking all the myths and misconceptions that might be in existence.

Mercy Kiura

Mercy is a married mother of 4 from Ciakariga in Tharaka Nithi County. She is jovial by nature and likes to cheer people up despite their challenges. Aside from being a very engaging FPCORP she is a small-scale farmer, with a small piece of land in Ciakariga where she grows green grams and has a few mango trees. She also volunteers at her local health center.

Eunice Karimi

Eunice is a married mother of 4 children from Nkondi in Tharaka Nithi County. She is a well known Community Health Worker (CHW) and is popular with the communities and is a good at networking. Through her active involvement in women groups, which were formed to empower residents, she uses them as a platform for her sensitization. She is also a small scale sorghum, millet and green grams farmer.

Florence Naeku

Florence is a married mother of 5 children from Emarti in Narok County in southern Kenya. She also reaches into neighbouring Bomet County. Naeku is a small-scale farmer and keeps poultry. She is an assistant preacher at their local church, The Local World-Wide Ministries and likes to preach the gospel to her community members whenever free.

Nelly Naipanoi

Nelly is a married mother of 2 from Ololunga in Narok County . She is a hair dresser and likes to interact with her clients as she beautifies them. Nelly is a very sociable individual and whenever free, she likes to swim and travel to interesting new places.

Pauline Lokipi

Pauline is a married mother of 5 children. She likes to promote education in her local community in Laikipia West Sub County. She does bead and leather work, and makes reusable sanitary towels. Pauline also, oversees two health support groups. She likes singing and enjoys farming on her small homestead. She provides mentoring to new and 'weak' CORPs.

Enrica Akiru

Enrica passionately educates and supports youth in family planning and environmental conservation. She goes beyond traditional teachings, emphasising the link between responsible reproductive choices and environmental sustainability. Her work equips young people with knowledge for informed decisions, fostering a future where personal well-being and environmental conservation thrive together. She hails from Isiolo town.

Loise Kimiri

Loise is a married mother of 3 from Doldol. Loise is always busy in her community helping as a health volunteer sensitizing the community members about good health practices. Loise is keen on working with her community ensuring a good water supply for their domestic and livestock use. She likes traveling and meeting new people.


Susan Chelele

Susan is a married mother to 3 children. Susan hails from Ilpingwan in Laikipia West. She is a shopkeeper at the local center selling basic daily commodities. She likes herding livestock and ‘catching up’ with her peers .





Esther Akeno

Esther is a single mother of 2 - a boy and a girl, both attending the nearby primary. She is from Rumuruti town in Laikipia West and likes to farm. When Esther is free, she likes to travel, listen to gospel music and sing

Florence Siamanta

Florence from Il Motiok village in Laikipia North is married with 2 sons. She is a business woman and you will always find her in markets selling her wares. She likes travelling and singing traditional songs when free.

Jacinta Rarin

Jacinta is a single mother of 3. She is based at Endana community in Laikipia Central, and started working with CHAT in the year 2009. Rarin also runs a small business selling clothes. She likes to listen to music and travel to new places


Zipporah Leleruk

Zipporah is a single mother of 2 children living in Lerata area, Samburu East Sub County. She runs a small vegetable stand and is very engaged with her community members of Kirish. Often, a small group of women will gather to chat and learn from each other at her market stand.

Susan Lenantare

Susan is married with 4 children and owns a small foodstuff and bead work business. She assists communities in Maibei and neighboring conservancies in Samburu East to access family planning. She often will provide mentorship services to other new or 'weak' CORPs. She is a friendly cheerful person and enjoys socializing and traveling.

Julius Emuria

Julius married father of 3 from Ol Donyo Nyiro, situated in the west of Isiolo County. He likes to volunteer his skills and you will frequently find him helping out in neighboring health facilities. Whenever free, he likes to socialize with friends and the community at large. He is very passionate about livestock keeping and is always out to learn something new about the animals.

Fensia Masiyo

Fensia Masiyo from Ewaso community in the north of Laikipia is a married mother of 3. She is skilled in making beautiful bead accessories. Fencia likes cooking for her family and spending time with them.

Agnes Safina

Agnes, a married mother of 3 living in Kisima, Samburu Central Sub County. She has established 2 health support groups and assists with mobilization of communities around Baawa & other communities neighbouring the west Kirisia Forest. Agnes practices poultry keeping and likes educating people on health and environmental issues.

Jane Nteiyan

Jane is a married mother of 4 children. She lives in Wamba in Samburu East and has a small business selling food stuffs and beautiful bead-work. She enjoys cooking.

Rose Lenemiria

Rose is married mother of 7 children from Sirata Oirobi in Samburu County. She runs a hair salon. Whilst at the salon, they interact and discuss topics that empower them, helping them to better understand their roles as women. Rose is also a pastor and enjoys watching gospel music and sports

Stella Akai

Stella is a divorced mother of 4 from Suguta Marmar in Samburu Central. She is passionate about community health thus you will often find her volunteering at the health facility, and also is often going door to door sensitizing community members. She loves singing during her free time.

Victor Nenemiria

Victor is 57 year old, married and a father to 7 children. He trained as a HTC Counselor at Sirata Oirobi Dispensary, Samburu County. He is also a pastor. His passion is to provide spiritual counseling, and family/couple counseling. He is a keen sportsman.

Jane Lealmusia

Jane is a married mother of 3 from Lukumkum, a small community at the foot of the west Ndoto Mountains in Samburu North (very remote). Jane has a small local kiosk where she sells local commodities. She is very adventurous and likes to discover new things and places. Jane often volunteers with the local dispensary.

Nawasa is a married mother of 7 from South Horr in Samburu County. She works hard to ensure that her children will get an education. When she has time, Nawasa likes to do voluntary health work.



Silvana Lepurdati

Silvana is a married mother of a 2 based in Ndonyo Nasipa, north west on the slopes of Mathews Range (very remote). She likes to volunteer at the local health facility. She is skilled in bead work and makes beautiful artifacts which she sells in the nearby market. Her hobby is singing Samburu folk songs.

Elizabeth Ngeiwa

"Alice" is a married mother of 7 from Amaiya. – on the boundary of Samburu with East Pokot. The ever-happy lady is a farmer and a keen sports woman. During her spare time she can be seen playing different sports like football, netball and javelin.

Andrew Eturen

Andrew is a farther of 6 from Marti in Samburu North (has high insecurity). Being the sole bread winner of his family, he is a construction worker building some upcoming houses in Marti. He likes herding livestock.

Stephen Turuga

Stephen is a married father of 4 children. He is a HTC Counselor by profession and supports this with FP mobilization in Namarei Laisamis sub County of Marsabit County. He also supports Namarei health facility as a volunteer especially during MCH clinics. He keeps livestock and sells them to sustain his family.

Lucy Lesogor

Lucy is a mother of 4 from Lesirkan community in northern Samburu. She has always helped out in the health facility following the footsteps of her mother who too, was very keen on family planning. She is passionate about empowering young girls. Her hobby is making beautiful bead work.

Jennifer Lekalasoi

'Sportman' is a married mother of 3. She comes from Leanga'ata community. The very agile lady likes to do her bead work whenever she is not sensitizing the community. With her unique nickname, everyone knows her.


Vivian Machan

Vivian is a married mother of 1. The excellent chapati cook is always highly sort out for her services in her community of Ngurunit. Vivian likes travelling and watching movies.



Celina Bulo

Celina is married mother of 4 from the northern town of Laisamis in Marsabit County. She runs a small local shop in Laisamis town where she stocks basic commodities for daily use. She likes singing in the choir, discovering new places and travelling.



Kabale Dima

Kabale, a married mother of 2 from Marsabit. She is a chicken farmer. Being an unpopular business in her area she gets a lot of visitors who would like to learn from her. From this she is able to sensitize on FP. Kabale likes swimming and praying during her free time at home.



Madina Dima

Madina is a married mother of 8 who lives in Isiolo town where she runs her own small business selling food stuffs and keeping poultry. She works alongside CHAT helping and empowering both her local community within the town of Isiolo, and the neighboring rural communities in Eastern Isiolo. Her work helps to ensure that young girls and women within the larger Isiolo County are able to access family planning and TB treatment and support. Madinah enjoys cooking.
